s ketches   and   studies   for   the   second   canvas   that is being completed during this period
the asassination of prince Gesualdo’s wife and her lover by prince Gesualdo, oil on canvas,1,50X1,00m. Carlo   Gesualdo   of   Venosa    (possibly   8th   of   March   1566   –   8th   of   September   1613)   prince   of   Venosa   and   duke   of   Conza, was   a   famous   renaissance   composer   of   polyphony,   he   was   however   notorious   for   his   atrocities   against   his   wife   and her   lover.   It   is   recorded   that   he   trapped   the   couple   in   the   bedroom,   where   he   ordered   his   guards   to   execute   them. Not stopping there, he made sure they were no longer in this world, by using his own hands. His   unbelievable   life   and   his   extravagant   music,   both   disobedient   to   the   laws   of   men,   gave   the   painter   inspiration for two canvases of the same subject and size, which can be seen here. PS. The first painting in the slideshow below, is in progress and is being completed during this period, so the pictures are studies for the final canvas.
