DIPTYCH-”LETTERA AMOROSA”-MALE AND FEMALE FIGURE-
Inspired
by
the
renaissance
love
poem
in
the
form
of
a
letter,
written
by
unknown
poet
and
set
in
music
by
the
renaissance
composer
Claudio
Monteverdi
(1567–
1643),
the
artist
has
created
a
diptych
that
consists
of
one
male
and
one
female
figure.
The
first
canvas
from
left
to
right
represents
the
lyrics
“…credete
a
questa
carta,
a
questa
carta
in
cui….”
which
means
“believe
this letter, this letter in which…”and depicts a male figure.
The
second
canvas
represents
the
lyrics
“sotto
forma
d’inchiostro
il
cor
stillai.”
which
means
“where
in
the
form
of
ink,
my
heart bled.” and depicts a female figure symbolically holding this heart.
